Optimal Temperature:
The ideal temperature range for storing Tequila Reposado is generally between 13-18°C (55-65°F). Some sources suggest a slightly narrower range of 10-13°C (50-55°F) or 15-20°C (59-68°F). Consistency is key; avoid drastic temperature changes as this can cause the liquid to expand and contract potentially compromising the bottle's seal and affecting the taste. Do not store Tequila Reposado near heat sources like stoves or heaters. While refrigeration or freezing generally isn't necessary for long-term storage and extreme cold can dull the aromas and flavors it's acceptable for a few days if you prefer to chill the spirit before consumption.

Light Exposure:
Store Tequila Reposado in a dark place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to light and heat can degrade the delicate compounds in the spirit accelerate oxidation and alter the flavor potentially leading to a harsher taste. The opaque bottle of this specific Tequila Reposado is designed to help preserve its color and aromas similar to how red wine is bottled.

Sealing:
Unopened Bottles: An unopened bottle of Tequila Reposado can last for years or even indefinitely as long as the seal remains intact.
Opened Bottles: Once opened exposure to air triggers oxidation which can gradually alter the flavor and diminish quality. To slow down this process reseal the bottle tightly after each pour. The original cork is generally fine but if it's worn or damaged consider using an airtight container or a stopper designed for spirits. For added protection against evaporation you can wrap Parafilm around the cap seal.

Bottle Position:
Always store Tequila Reposado bottles upright regardless of whether they are opened or unopened. Unlike wine which is stored horizontally to keep the cork moist the higher alcohol content in tequila can deteriorate the cork over time if it remains in prolonged contact with the liquid potentially affecting the flavor. Storing upright also helps keep any sediment at the bottom of the bottle ensuring a clear pour.

Humidity:
While not as critically emphasized as temperature and light storing in a cool dry environment is generally recommended. Fluctuations in humidity can indirectly affect the cork seal over a very long period.

Special Storage Tips:

After two to five years you may notice a subtle degradation in flavor becoming flatter or less vibrant.
No Further Aging: Tequila Reposado does not continue to age or improve once it has been bottled. Its aging process is completed in barrels before bottling.
