Storage advice
To optimally store Champagne in a 150cl bottle (magnum format) maintain a constant temperature between 10°C and 12°C (50°F – 54°F) to prevent damage from heat or fluctuations. Avoid temperatures above 15°C and rapid changes in temperature that can compromise quality.
Keep the bottle in a dark environment away from direct light sources such as sunlight or artificial lights since light exposure can degrade the champagne.
Maintain humidity levels between 60% and 70% to keep the cork moist and prevent it from drying out which would let air in and spoil the wine. Excessive humidity above this range may cause mold growth on the cork and label so avoid overly humid conditions.
Store the bottle on its side to keep the cork in contact with the liquid preserving its moisture and sealing ability.
Avoid vibrations and movement which can prematurely age the champagne or disturb sediment.
For an unopened bottle these conditions ensure preservation of effervescence and flavor for several years depending on its quality (non-vintage Champagne generally should be consumed sooner than vintage styles).
For an opened bottle reseal tightly with a specialized Champagne stopper to maintain carbonation and refrigerate immediately. It is best consumed within 1–3 days to preserve bubbles and freshness.
Avoid storing Champagne in regular kitchen refrigerators as they tend to be too cold and dry risking cork damage and loss of flavor. A wine fridge with humidity and temperature control is ideal.
